Constantart came into being in the early eighties. It was a small investment of a few hundred pounds here and there that gradually became bigger and bigger and more serious. Without even realising the consequences of that, the amateurish investments in art became more serious and finally developed into an investment of some importance. The upshot of that was the birth of constantart and then greeksinart.
Constant Art/ Greeksinart started investing in Greek artists in 1987 and since 1975 for personal reasons. Many important Greek and foreign artists came through our books and went but we kept many too.
We have always felt that the future potential was much more significant than the near present and for that we invested in artists who were neglected at the time but showed good potential and had what it took to be recognised as artists of quality and subject matter. We were particularly interested in the subject matter and the location of the work of these artists. We feel the Greeks are a nation in diaspora and the motherland’s historical and cultural landmarks will always be a serious attraction point for all, either today, in fifty or a hundred years. Furthermore, Greece’s cultural ancient attractions are also popular with investors from all over the world.
The stock of Greeksinart is mainly end of the twentieth century and beginning of 21st Century works of about a dozen Greek artists, most of which are already selling at auction worldwide. Papanelopoulos, Kalogeropoulos, Zenetzis, Koutrikas to mention but a few. We also stock a few very good art works of the 19th and 20th century by well known and famous names such as Pantazis, Doukas and Koulentianos. Among our stock we have extremely rare works by Elias Adjitiris and Euterpe Ionides. Finally we take extreme pride in the 1942 painting potrait of Queen Anna Maria of Greece at the age of two, then princess of Denamark, with her mother Queen Beatrice of Denmark.
Our stock from Europe includes paintings from England and the whole of Europe and in particular France. Finally we also stock important art of very good artists from countries such as India, Vietnam, Philippines, Japan, Brazil and many more.
Our investments will appear slowly and gradually on the site. It would be advisable to visit from time to time to read news on art, news on auctions upcoming and past, new artists and new art works we present.
The connoisseur is our associate dealer/investor who started a journey in art that still takes him to the unknown. Truthfully and honestly he will narrate to all his experiences in the art business from the beginning to today over the months and years to come.
