First Time Lucky In Contemporary Art? June 1986

I put behind me the disappointment with the Seago painting and I looked ahead to sales and catalogues for my next investments. It was clear to me now that on several occasions I invested in Modern British art but made no money of mention. The latest result with the Seago painting confirmed that and it turned me off from that market too.

Cleverer, Experienced Foxes In The Game- Lesson Learned!

The Seago sale was over, done and dusted in May 1986.

I did not know what and why it happened until a year or two later.  I walked by Richard Green Fine Art in central London one day and,  there were the answers to all my questions. The Seago I had sold at Sothebys was the front cover illustration of an Edward Seago selling exhibition at Richard Green Fine Art.

Edward Seago Disappointment – Lack Of Patience

In the meantime it was early May and the sale at Sothebys was on. Unfortunately for me the sale at Sothebys had several Seagos on offer and that I knew detracted from the sale of my painting. I was determined to follow the sale and that I did with some trepidation, apprehension and sort of fear for the worst. I never had an expensive English painting before and that made me very nervous. I had already found out that English dealers were good and fearsome, they chase paintings to distruction, thus not allowing much margin for error and indeed profit.

11367 Vasilis Zenetzis, Temple Of Poseidon, SOUNION

Artist Title Format Size Date
Vasilis Zenetzis Sounion With Temple of Poseidon  signed, oil on canvas  50 x 70 cm
Zenetzis is a well known artist in Greece and abroad. He is a good auction artist who sells well at auction. His work is very underrated but it won’t be long before he reaches the level his art deserves. This work was painted in June 2004, just before the Athens Olympics. It was painted on location over a period of one week when he painted another four similar paintings of  the Temple of Poseidon at  Cape Sounion. This piece form a pair with the other Sounio painting by the artist. We advise our vistors and potential investors that pairs of apintings are more valuable than single paintings of the same location.
