Mastoras studied at the Vakalo School of Art but No studying makes an artist, unless he has the talent that nature bestowed upon him. Mastoras is clearly an artist with natural talent in both his still life work and figurative paintings. Unfortunately of the ten works in our collection only two are left and we consider them of very high quality. Still Life with Peaches was purchased in 1989 and was considered by the artist as one of his best paintings ever. The Still Life of Flowers was painted in 1990, especially for our collection. Both works remain high in our stock, they are considered treasures in view of the value and prices achieved by the artist in Athens today.

Doukas was born in Smyrna in 1885 and studied in Venice, Munich and Paris. On completion of his studies he settled in Athens where he had a very successful career as an artist of Still Life and Landscape. He died in Athens in 1969. |
