Autumn Exhibition Leon Kalogeropoulos ( Greek 1926 – 2002)
The Last Marine Artist Of The Twentieth Century In Greece
The Greek art market survived the meltdown of the finances of the country. The May sales in Athens and London registered a 60% sold by lot. Such sold rate is positive and promising for the future. We can only see an upward trend and improving prices for Greek works of art from here onwards.
Our next exhibition takes place in October – November with marine paintings by Leon Kalogeropoulos. Leon Kalogeropouos is considered the last marine Greek painter of the twentieth century. He painted exclusively marine pictures taking his themes and subjects from the national and merchant marine history of Greece. Kalogeropoulos has a very good auction sales record and his work can be found in all major collections including the Maritime Museum of Pireaus.
The exhibition will include twenty-five paintings of the artist spanning his active artistsic period from 1975- 2001.
